Journey to Self-Awareness, by the Numbers
Tips for getting the most from an ancient path to self-discovery
You may or may not have heard of the Enneagram, a fascinating and sacred system of discovering your motivation and how you see the world. Interest in the Enneagram has exploded in popularity, as described in this article from April of this year. Often described as a personality test, it is really more of a journey of self-discovery- your personality can help reveal your type- but the Enneagram is deeper than that. It focuses on the “why” of what you do and how you see the world.
I am not an expert, but after studying on my own for a couple of years, I have a few tips for those who are new to the Enneagram and are interested in seeking to understand themselves and the way they move through life.
Don’t depend on an online test to determine your Enneagram Type.
The Enneagram uses numbers to identify each type. A brief and (please be aware) incomplete overview:
- The Reformer
- The Helper
- The Performer
- The Individualist
- The Investigator
- The Loyalist
- The Enthusiast
